Behind the Fic

Hey guys, I'm bored so I thought I'd write a journal entry. I get a lot of questions regarding how I come up with some of my fics. Lately I've been getting ones asking how I came up with that one Nicktoons story World of the Crazies, mostly about the characters of the alternate Nicktoons fav.me/d37vzb3 Well, believe it or not, I have great stories about how I came up with each of their personalities and aspects, and I thought I'd share it with all of you and to answer the questions of some who have been asking and wondering. I'll list them all...


Alternate Jimmy's character is based on the character of Dictator Jimmy from one of my favorite fanfics "The Other Side of Tomorrow" both characters are an alternate form of Jimmy Neutron and are evil, cold malicious, and manipulative. And both share similar mannerism and calculative nature. Though the source material is set in an alternate future (15 years to be exact), and Alternate Jimmy is definitely more kid-friendly, but I still tried to make him as threatening as possible. I also had a blast writing his dialogue as mind manipulation is my favorite type of torture in media as it shows just how evil a villain really is. And I believe that if Jimmy Neutron were evil, this just how he would be.

Alternate SpongeBob was a pretty simple character to make. I had one goal in mind that I would NOT make another evil form of SpongeBob SquarePants. So Alternate SpongeBob remained good and became a hero along as a support for the main characters. Alternate SpongeBob's hair was a fun thing to do. You wouldn't believe it, but it's actually based on a few anime characters I've seen with long red hair, along with the fact that I have a thing for red-heads. I also have this idea that if SpongeBob ever had hair, it would be red since in some instances where SpongeBob is shown with hair in the show; it's usually a reddish color. I originally wanted it to be auburn, but I didn't have any color to match it, so I just went with a simple orange red. Another reason I gave him hair was to set him apart from the real SpongeBob and make him his own person like the other characters since he shares a somewhat similar personality to his counterpart unlike the others.

Alternate Danny was easily the funnest character to write for for obvious reasons. He has an interesting story behind him as well. Kinda like Alt. SpongeBob, I had limitations with him. I couldn't make Danny's alternate self evil due to the fact that it would conflict with Dark Dan Phantom, who was already Danny's evil alternate self, and I couldn't make him good since I already had another OC who was Danny's alternate self and was a hero. So I solved the problem with making him neutral and giving him a personality that showed he could neither be good nor evil. His brash behavior is actually based on Asuka Langley Soryu from "Neon Genesis Evangelion" in terms of mannerism and psychological problems. He is also based on one of my favorite character types: The Cute but Troubled, and the Jerkass Woobie. One interesting fact is that his relationship with Alternate SpongeBob is based on some who believe Danny Phantom would dislike SpongeBob for his annoying behavior and would want nothing to do with him. Yeah…I actually put that in a Nicktoons fic…hope you can forgive me.

Alternate Tak was a character that I can't remember how I came up with. I knew from the beginning that he would be evil and work alongside Alt. Jimmy. I wasn't sure just how evil to make him in comparison to Alt. Jimmy, eventually I decided to make him Evul for the Lulz since I thought it would fit for his counterpart to the real Tak. His magic being more powerful was something I thought would be more appropriate as well, and I got the mind-reading idea from a psychic I saw on tv. His look was something I has a little trouble on as well, I wanted it simple yet cool. He originally had red face paint, but I thought it made him look too devilish. I really did enjoy writing for Alt. Tak, and wished he was in the story more. I didn't enjoy him as a villain as much as I did Alt. Jimmy, but it came pretty close.

Alternate Timmy was honestly a pretty tricky character to come up with. When I started the story, I knew he would be good and his role would be a guinea pig prisoner to Alt. Jimmy that would cause him to become emotionally traumatized like Alt. Danny. But the problem was I wasn't sure how he would look it. My early designs have him covered from head to toe in robes and a large hat, but for some reason, he ended up looking like Vivi Ornitier, so I had to change it a little, but just enough so his face and body would be concealed. The real problem was I didn't know what he would be hiding under the robe. His robotic arm and supernatural abilities were all things I came up with at the last minute. This is also true about his Cute but Troubled personality and him being a Cute Mute in order to contrast with Alt. Danny. Yeah, those all seem pretty unbelievable, but though it all, I really liked the outcome of it all! Like Alt. Tak, I wished he could've been in the story more.
